ŠKODA approval strengthens NEXA AUTOCOLOR®’s position in Czech Republic

ŠKODA approval strengthens NEXA AUTOCOLOR®’s position in Czech Republic

NEXA AUTOCOLOR® has become one of only three refinish paint suppliers to gain local approval from Czech automobile manufacturer, ŠKODA AUTO.

This new partnership means that many more bodyshops in the Czech Republic will now benefit from Nexa Autocolor’s innovative range of products and services. These include the pioneering waterborne AQUABASE® Plus platform and revolutionary MOONWALK™ automated paint mixing system, as well as ongoing training and support provided through MVP Business Solutions Team.

Founded 125 years ago, Skoda is one of the longest-standing car manufacturers in the world and has been part of the global Volkwagen Group since 1991. The Skoda brand is still a firm favorite in its homeland of the Czech Republic where it accounts for 50 percent of new car sales annually.

“This is a landmark approval for Nexa Autocolor. Half of new cars sold in the Czech Republic are made by Skoda and we have signed an agreement enabling us to serve its entire local repair network,” says Radu Dragoi, PPG Automotive Refinish Sales Director for CAR for Central Europe.

From 2020 bodyshops in the Czech Republic, Skoda network can only use paint suppliers that have been officially approved by the manufacturer. Without gaining this approval, Nexa Autocolor risked losing its existing customers to a competitor.

“We have knocked on the door for many years with no success – there were only two preferred refinish paint partners for Skoda in the Czech Republic, and it was not Nexa Autocolor,” explains Adrian Winkler, PPG Automotive Refinish Business Development Manager for Central Eastern Europe.

“Fortunately, last year Skoda decided to change its approval process and instead of having two refinish paint partners, it decided to have more. This gave our regional team a fresh opportunity to demonstrate the true value of working with Nexa Autocolor,” Winkler continues.

Our proposal stood out based on product quality and service with its premium Nexa Autocolor now selected as one of three approved refinish paint brands.

“This is a clear signal that Nexa Autocolor has become an important and strong player in this market and will open doors to other OEMs in the Czech Republic,” concludes Marcin Domaszewicz, PPG Automotive Refinish Business Director for Central Eastern Europe.
